Statement from Member of Parliament Michelle Ferreri on her advocacy for more than $19 million dollars in funding towards affordable housing in Peterborough.

Peterborough, ON— Michelle Ferreri, Member of Parliament for Peterborough—Kawartha and the Conservative Shadow Minister for Families, Children and Social Development, released the following statement on the City of Peterborough’s successful provincial and federal housing funding:

“Congratulations to the City of Peterborough on their successful application for 53 units of affordable housing at 681 Monaghan Road with a Federal investment of almost $20 million dollars.

“Back in July, I was proud to receive a call from the Minister of Housing that the City of Peterborough’s application for round 3 of the rapid housing initiative was approved.

“The construction, which local company Mortlock Construction is to oversee, is expected to be completed by Summer 2024 and will be rental units home to vulnerable populations in Peterborough at affordable and rent geared to income levels.

“Today’s announcement is one of the largest publicly funded housing projects our city has seen. I am proud to have advocated in opposition on behalf of our community to bring these much-needed dollars and housing to Peterborough.”
